There’s less than a month left for people to have their say on what they think the priorities should be for housing in the future.
The county council is seeking people’s views as part of an affordable homes consultation, which ends on May 29.
Everyone is invited to have a say, whether they are tenants, private home owners, housing developers or professionals who have an interest in social housing provision.
The consultation is available on the council’s website, and as a hard copy, available from the council’s customer service centres.
It seeks opinion on what ‘affordable housing’ means to people – who they feel affordable homes should be provided for; what role the council should play in the future of housing, and how the supply of homes in the county can be increased to meet demand.
The feedback will be collated and used in the development of a 10-year affordable housing plan for Carmarthenshire.
Robin Staines, the council’s Head of Housing and Public Protection, said: “As a council we have already invested over £200million in the last 10 years through the Carmarthenshire Homes Standard to create better living conditions for our tenants, and fought to bring about changes in the law so we can retain our housing stock and reinvest rental income locally.
“The 10-year affordable housing is the next stage – looking ahead to the future when we know there will be increased demand for housing, and an ageing population.”
