Pembrokeshire County Council’s Family Information Service (FIS) has been praised for the quality of its work.
The service has recently been awarded a National Association of Family Information Services (NAFIS) Families First Quality Award.
The award means that Pembrokeshire County Council is meeting Section 27 Information Duty of the Childcare Act in full.
It is also evidence of the continuing high quality service provided to parents and professionals throughout Pembrokeshire by the FIS team
Councillor Sue Perking, Cabinet Member for Education and Safeguarding said the Family Information Service was a key tool for parents, families and professionals, providing high quality information about options and possibilities.
“Accessible, accurate and quality information on services available to parents and families underpins all initiatives, and services supporting children, young people and parents,” she said.
“In some cases early resolution of problems can minimise the need for later formal and costly crisis intervention by public services.”
Tim Swithenbank, an external verifier for the award said:
“The impression I take from my verification of Pembrokeshire FIS is one of a service that applies high levels of commitment, conscience and compassion to the families in Pembrokeshire.”
The award will be presented to Pembrokeshire Family Information Service, on Tuesday 2nd June 2015.
