Info day on £13m ‘Extra Care’ facility

AN information day on the community friendly £13-million Johnstown Cartref Cynnes Extra Care facility opening soon is on May 26.

The open invitation is for interested members of the public to learn about the ultra modern and brimming with facilities housing project being created in Llanstephan Road.

The information day will be held nearby in the performance hall of Queen Elizabeth High School, Johnstown, running from 2 to 5pm.

The Family Housing Association Wales scheme in partnership with Carmarthenshire council will provide 61 self contained one and two bedroom apartments and a day centre.

Family Housing Association Wales staff will introduce the new scheme showing architectural drawings and visuals and the interior design to show how the finished scheme will look.

Information on how to make applications will be available and staff will be able to explain how care and support will be provided.

County executive board member for health and social care, Cllr Jane Tremlett, said: “Cartref Cynnes is a wonderful example of how the council is committed to providing modern new facilities for older people and care staff in Carmarthenshire.

“It is tremendous, too, that that the facilities and day centre can be embraced by the community with its day centre and facilities open for use by them.

“The new build has transformed the Johnstown Argel site.

“It includes additional facilities for the wellbeing and enjoyment of residents including craft and hobby rooms, guest suites, meeting rooms  and communal areas.”

Carmarthenshire Council has delivered two extra care schemes previously at Plas Y Mor, Burry Port and Cwm Aur in Llanybydder. Another is nearing completion in Ammanford.
