The fundraising work of Marie Curie in West Wales now has a new home in Llanelli, officially opened by Keith Davies AM yesterday (Monday 11th May).
Llanelli AM Keith Davies visited the new office in Dafen to learn more about the charity’s fundraising work in West Wales and how it helps provide expert care, guidance and support for people living with a terminal illness, and their families.
The charity’s West Wales Fundraising Office had previously been located in Swansea city centre for a number of years, but has now relocated to a new office in Llys Aur, Llanelli Gate.
Sara Bass, Marie Curie Fundraising Manager for Wales, said: “We are extremely excited to have moved to Carmarthenshire, and it was a privilege to be able to welcome Keith Davies AM to officially open our base in West Wales.
“It was also fantastic that so many of our volunteers from across West Wales were able to join us and share with Keith how their time and dedication benefits people living with a terminal illness.”
Keith Davies AM said: “I was delighted to welcome Marie Curie to Llanelli and open their new office in Dafen. It is fantastic that the Llanelli area will play a big role in raising vital funds for Marie Curie nurses and terminal illness care.
“There is a clear link between the fantastic work of fundraising groups on the ground and the policy focus we have in the Senedd. I spoke about that connection, and I look forward to working locally to feed that back at a national level.
“The work of staff and volunteers is truly inspirational, I talked to them about their activities across Carmarthenshire and Wales. I would certainly encourage anyone with an interest to get involved and I wish the group every success at their new base.”
