Scarlets can today confirm that the region will take on English Championship side Jersey in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 15th August.
The Championship side will host the Scarlets at St Peters as part of their pre-season campaign in what will be an opportunity for the coaches and management to see the squad in action after an intense programme of training and conditioning.
The clash will be the first time that the two sides have met since the advent of professional rugby with the Scarlets victorious in both previous clashes at St Peters in April 1970 and May 1981, both played at St Peters.
Scarlets Head Coach Wayne Pivac said: “We’re looking forward to taking on Jersey as part of our pre-season campaign. These fixtures are important assets in our preparation ahead of the start of the Guinness PRO12 campaign and will give the wider squad an opportunity to show their progression.
“The depth in our squad will be particularly important this forthcoming season as we’ll be kicking off the new season without our international contingent who’ll be on World Cup duty. This game gives us an opportunity to see some exciting young faces in action after what will have been an intense period of training and conditioning throughout the summer.”
Scarlets’ pre-season friendlies schedule will be announced in full in the coming weeks.
