ITV Poll finds 39% now back Welsh independence
A poll which shows the highest ever support for Welsh independence is confirmation of the “growing view” that the Union is failing all parts of the UK beyond the “Westminster bubble”, Plaid Cymru Leader Adam Price has said.
A poll made for the ITV News, Tonight programme in collaboration with Savanta ComRes has revealed the highest levels of support for Welsh independence ever recorded with 39% of the population now in favour of independence from the rest of the UK.
Plaid Cymru Leader Adam Price said decisions affecting Wales “should be made in Wales” and that this was a “simple matter of democracy” to which the Tories and Labour “are opposed”.
Mr Price encouraged all who want to see Wales become “fairer, greener and more prosperous” to vote Plaid Cymru on May 6th and said only his party would deliver a referendum that “more and more people want to see”.
Plaid Cymru have pledged to offer a referendum on Welsh independence within the first term of Government should it hold a majority after the next Senedd elections in May.
Plaid Cymru Leader Adam Price MS said,
“This confirms the growing view that the Union is failing all parts of the UK beyond the Westminster bubble. Decisions affecting Wales should be made in Wales, this is a simple matter of democracy to which the Tories and Labour are opposed.
“For everyone who wants to see Wales become a fairer, greener and more prosperous nation, there is only one credible option on the ballot paper on May 6th.
“Only a Plaid Cymru government can deliver a referendum on Welsh independence which more and more people want to see.
