TALES of Peter Rabbit, sausages and cider and an eclectic mix of music in Singleton Park are all on the menu for a memorable and enjoyable summer in Swansea.

The Wales National Air Show on July 11 and 12 might be the highlight of the season in Swansea but there’s much more going on too and it’s all in the summer edition of the Enjoy Swansea brochure.

Hundreds of thousands of people will be visiting the city this summer and setĀ piece events like the Xstatic Festival and the Swansea Sausages and Cider festival featuring a range of tribute bands including Bon Jovi and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are jostling for attention. There areĀ also tours of Dylan Thomas’ Swansea across the summer and seashore safaris taking place in July and August.

Oystermouth Castle, open every day during the summer, is playing host to outdoor theatre featuring Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ as well as performances of family favourites like Charlotte’s Web and The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’sĀ Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said the Enjoy Swansea brochure is being shared with venues andĀ businesses and is available at the Tourist Information Centre on Plymouth Street.

He said: “Looking at the brochure hardly a day goes by this summer without there being something new or fresh to enjoy. But there areĀ also some old favourites like the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k, Botanics in Bloom and the Gower Cycling Festival.

“Last year was Dylan Thomas’ centenary year and the Dylan Thomas guided tours were so successful that they’re back again this year and so too is the Swansea Festival of Transport, the RNLI Mumbles Raft Race and the World Party Day.

“The brochure is a handy one-stop diary of events this summer to help visitors and local familiesĀ plan and enjoy their summer in Swansea.”

Copies of the Enjoy Swansea brochure are available locally at libraries, leisure centres, tourist information centres and tourism businesses.
