To celebrate Internal Women’s Day 2021, Network Rail have released the shocking experiences female colleagues have been through in previous roles
Network Rail aims to raise awareness against bias, keep improving female representation at all levels, and remove barriers that exist for women. To do this, Network Rail have highlighted the shocking experiences that have happened to female colleagues in previous roles, in order to call out and challenge bias behaviours.
Below is a video highlighting the shocking experiences that women at Network Rail have gone through in some of their previous roles.

Katie Munday, our seasons delivery specialist, whose job it is to make sure trains run all year round no matter what the weather. As a young woman at Network Rail Katie feels extremely valued and taken seriously in her role. Katie’s role carries a lot of responsibility and people put a lot of trust in her to make big decisions to keep the railway moving.
Alison, Ruth and Clare whose role is to maintain the buildings, structures and utilities for the railway. Alison has worked in the railway for over 31 years as an engineer, and now for the first time she is reporting to a woman. In fact, there’s now four women in a line. Alison reports to Jane our Director Engineering & Asset Management, Ruth reports to Alison, and Clare reports to Ruth.
Network Rail are committed to increasing visibility, and encouraging conversation, while challenging inequality. We’re proud of every woman at Network Rail, without them, there wouldn’t be railway.
