A unique achievement is being celebrated this week as Chwarae Teg confirmed the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Wales as the first organisation in the nation to be awarded as a Gold standard FairPlay Employer.

Attaining the Gold Award is a remarkable accomplishment, as the FairPlay Employer programme has been running for over three years and supported hundreds of businesses to date.

It signifies that the FSA Wales has a steadfast commitment to gender equality and diversity, alongside a clear dedication to staff engagement – which aim to ensure equality of outcome and opportunities for all.

The innovative FairPlay Employer programme benchmarks organisations against others in their industry and region, determines key areas of success and those needing development. This is then followed by a journey of guided support and improvement, including a bespoke action plan and access to a range of resources and events.

Stephanie Griffiths, Commercial Manager, Chwarae Teg, said: “This is a major achievement as our benchmarking process is extremely tough. To achieve a Gold Award the client needs to be of a very high standard and their staff must also believe in those standards and really live and breathe the culture across the business.

“We are very proud of the FSA Wales and also of  FairPlay Employer and the support we offer organisations to help them make significant improvements which benefit everyone working for them, and provide women with the opportunity to progress and achieve their full potential.

“Forward thinking employers like the FSA Wales want to ensure their organisations provide the right environment for everyone to thrive. Our FairPlay Employer service can make it happen by giving organisations and businesses a clear path to success.”
