South Wales Police is continuing to investigate a disturbance near Wentloog Avenue, Cardiff, on Sunday afternoon.
Ten of the 12 men arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, assault and possession of offensive weapons, remain in police custody.
No further action is being taken against two other men who have been released from custody.
Of the three men taken to hospital, two have been discharged and a 27-year-old man continues to receive hospital for potentially life -changing injuries.
Officers were called to reports of an assault shortly after 4pm on Sunday, March 21.
It is understood that those involved are known to each other.
A police cordon at nearby Shirenewton has been lifted.
