Ospreys in the Community are delighted to announce a new partnership with national children’s charity Action for Children.

Both organisations already work closely together, with this new partnership looking to build on their existing relationship to enable us to work with more vulnerable children in the community.

All money raised through various fundraising schemes through the partnership will help fund vital programmes for children throughout South Wales.

The two organisations have already worked together after initially teaming up for the inaugural “Byte Night”. Thanks to the huge success of the evening which raised over £22,000 we were able to work on projects for young people including “Bouncing Back” to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people in secondary schools. The programmes and new partnership is fantastically supported by Ospreys Commercial Partners Philtronics Ltd.

Since launching “Bouncing Back”, the team have worked with six secondary schools with 296 students completing the course. 140 of these were face to face learning with the aim of us returning to schools after the Easter holidays to engage with more children.

As well as this, OitC recently expanded its mental health partnership with Action for Children by adopting the charity’s Guide Digital mental health literacy platform.

Speaking about the new Partnership, Community Foundation Manager Tom Sloane said: “We’re thrilled to announce our official partnership with Action for Children. Building on our existing relationship on fundraising initiatives will then allow us to use those funds in projects in the Ospreys region.

“We are passionate about supporting our communities, schools and clubs and having the opportunity to work closely with Action for Children to help these vulnerable groups is a huge positive movement.”

To launch the start of the new partnership, the two charities are teaming up for the “30 Days your way” challenge to help support the 30% of children who are living in poverty in the UK.

Area Fundraising Manager for Action for Children in Wales, Nina Rice, said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled we are teaming up with Ospreys in the Community as charity partner and for our 30 Days Your Way fundraising initiative where we’re asking people to walk, run, cycle or swim 30 miles this April for many of the vulnerable children we proudly support together.

‘This vital fundraising drive, aimed at highlighting that 30% of children in the UK are currently living in poverty, cements our partnership that is already flourishing with the delivery of our key mental health programmes, Bouncing Back and the Guide, for children around the schools and rugby clubs in the Ospreys region.  We are doing pioneering work for children and young people that have suffered disproportionately during this pandemic and I hope as many people as possible join us to do 30 Days Your Way.’
