Pembrey Country Park, Dylan Thomas Boathouse, Pendine Museum of Speed, Ffwrnes Theatre and Camarthenshire County Museum have been awarded certificates of excellence by one of the world’s largest travel sites.
The TripAdvisor award was given to the council buildings in recognition of excellence in hospitality as well as for consistently achieving great traveller reviews on their online site.
To qualify an attraction, accommodation or eatery must maintain an overall rating of at least four out of five and have a minimum number of reviews.
The council’s executive board for leisure services, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “We’re absolutely delighted to receive this accolade for four of our sites. These are only handed out to those places which consistently achieve excellence according to those people who know best – its visitors and customers.”
Pembrey Country Park received 194 reviews, with 119 in the excellent category, and the Dylan Thomas Boathouse 186, with 107 showing excellent.
Some of the comments posted include: Well positioned and a welcome refreshment stop, fabulous area – Dylan Thomas Boathouse; Great walks and a fantastic beach, stunning country park with amazing beach – Pembrey Country Park; Lovely little museum, really interesting – Pendine Museum of Speed; Lovely new theatre, smashing venue – Ffwrnes Theatre and interesting museum with nice gardens, something for everyone – Carmarthenshire County Museum.
The council’s head of leisure, Ian Jones said: “This is great news and it’s a testament to all staff and volunteers who work very hard to ensure our visitors get the best possible service. Carmarthenshire has so much to offer everyone and it really is a superb tourist location.”
