ENCHANTING stories from Beatrix Potter and William Shakespeare are among those being brought to life at Swansea’s Oystermouth Castle later this summer.

An outdoor theatre programme planned for the historic attraction in August will include performances of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny’.

Swansea Council is behind the fun.

Quantum Theatre will perform the much-loved Beatrix Potter story in the castle grounds during the afternoon of Thursday August 13. They’ll also be performing the Shakespearean classic on the evenings of both Thursday August 13 and Friday August 14.

Other children’s theatre will take place on the afternoon of Friday August 14 with The Performance Factory’s production of ‘Charlotte’s Web’ that’s based on E.B White’s iconic novel and film.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “Outdoor performances are really popular, particularly when they are set against the stunning backdrop of Oystermouth Castle. As part of our summer Enjoy Swansea Bay events programme, we’ve got four great performances lined up this year, so I’d urge people to pack a picnic, come along and enjoy a fabulous outdoor theatre event in Mumbles with family and friends.”

Tickets are only £4.50 in advance and £5.50 on the day for children’s afternoon theatre. They’re £9 in advance and £12 on the day for evening performances. Family tickets in advance and concessions are also available.
