In response to the news that the Premier League’s ‘big six’ teams will join a European Super League, Plaid Cymru Leader Adam Price has said,
“The decision, concerning in terms of the implications, is also a selfish move. These clubs have got to remember it’s a grassroots game and all the tiers below are the foundation of football. This decision is purely driven by profit.
“Football is self-regulated but we’ve got to find a way of preventing this from happening because it’s wrong at every level – ethically, morally, and it’s bad for the game ultimately.”
