A man has been fined for dropping a fast-food bag into the shrubbery in Lloyd Street car park in Ammanford.

He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 by council environmental enforcement officers.

Failure to pay could lead to court prosecution where the maximum fine that can be imposed is £2,500.

Approximately 12.8% of litter on Carmarthenshire streets is fast-food related, according to findings from Keep Wales Tidy.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “There is no excuse for dropping litter. If there is no bin nearby, hold on to your rubbish until you find one or take it home with you.

“Our enforcement officers carry put patrols seven days a week. We are determined to keep Carmarthenshire clean and tidy and anyone caught dropping litter will be fined.”
