Hywel Dda Health Charities is urging people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire to join the nation’s biggest tea break on 5 July and help raise money for the incredible people in our local NHS who’ve done so much to help everyone get through the pandemic.

Following a year like no other, Hywel Dda University Health Board’s official charity wants as many people as possible to get involved in a national outpouring of love and thanks for NHS staff and volunteers on its birthday by hosting or taking part in an NHS Big Tea at 3pm on 5 July.

Each event can be in person or virtually, with the community, friends, family or at work, and is a chance to reflect and say thank you for everything that NHS staff and volunteers have done and continue to do, by taking part in the nation’s biggest tea break to raise money for Hywel Dda Health Charities.

People can host their own event or they can show their support by taking 5 minutes to enjoy a tea break, donating £5 to support Hywel Dda Health Charities and tagging five friends on social media and calling on them to do the same.

NHS staff are also encouraged to ‘Take 5’ on 5th July – a moment to grab a cuppa and an important break when they can.

If you contact Hywel Dda Health Charities’ fundraising team on fundraising.HywelDda@wales.nhs.uk to register, they will send you posters, bunting, cake toppers etc, to help you with your Big Tea. They can also send you a downloadable toolkit.

You can donate the money raised from your Big Tea here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/HywelDdaBigTea21

Or if you would prefer, you can show your support by going to Hywel Dda Health Charities | Facebook and clicking on the blue ‘Donate’ button.

Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, Nicola Llewelyn, said: “The NHS Big Tea is a chance to show your support for our local NHS heroes by joining in a national outpouring of thanks this July.

“Please help us support the incredible people in our local NHS by joining the nation’s biggest tea break. And if you aren’t able to take part on 5th July, any day in July is fine. Just get brewing!

“Your donations to Hywel Dda Health Charities enable us to fund projects and equipment to improve the lives of patients and staff, over and above what the NHS can provide.”

The Big Tea is organised by NHS Charities Together – the national charity caring for the NHS – of which Hywel Dda Health Charities is a member.
