Two eight-year-old best friends from Pontyberem have raised a fantastic £2,110 for Glangwili Hospital.
Macsen Harris and Elis Eynon ran a mile a day for 28 days at the local park because they wanted to support their local health service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They ran in rain, ice and even snow, and were determined to see the challenge through.
Macsen said: “I decided to run a mile a day for 28 days for Hywel Dda Health Charities because I wanted to help local people through COVID.”
Elis said he wanted to help his best friend Macsen with his fundraising, “and raise some money to say a big thank you for all the hard work the staff have done and continue to do with the COVID pandemic and also because my sister has to regularly visit the hospital for her check-ups.”

Caryl said: “Glangwili Hospital was delighted to receive a cheque presented by Macsen Harries and Elis Eynon.
“Having been inspired by Captain Tom Moore, Macsen decided he wanted to do something similar and raise funds to help people during the pandemic. He took it upon himself to run a mile a day and was hoping to raise a couple of hundred pounds.
“His friend Elis joined the challenge as a way of helping and to spend some socially-distanced time with his friend.
“They have raised a considerable amount of money and they are apparently looking at the next challenge already. Diolch Macsen a Elis.”
