About Boys & Girls Club Houston
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston (BGCGH) deliver high-quality afterschool programs to their communities’ most at-risk youth to fulfill their mission: To inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Over 30,000 youth walk through their doors each year for after school and summer programs. BGCGH is a safe haven for kids who commonly live in the midst of chaotic, dangerous neighborhoods and have limited positive relationships. The Clubs are intentionally sited in some of the region’s poorest, most under-resourced neighborhoods. In this way, the organization can purposefully target communities where youth lack opportunities for afterschool and summer enrichment and where parents may work long hours, leaving youth unsupervised after school. At their Clubs, youth are provided meals, strong role models, homework assistance, organized athletics, character development and access to the arts. There is an opportunity for every kid to get involved and learn something new. The organization has also worked on several initiatives in response to COVID-19, more information here.
