Today the Transport and Environment (T&E) reported that while the UK previously produced half of Electric Vehicles, due to lack of investment by manufactures this figure will fall to just 4% by 2030. Car Insurance Expert at Confused.com Alex Kindred says:

“Many of us are on board with efforts to become more environmentally conscious. In fact, we found that more than half (56%) of motorists would consider buying an electric vehicle as their next car.

“If we’re to reach the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel cars, we need to see the support from manufacturers and the government alike, as a reduced supply from manufacturers could mean costs go up on EVs in the UK! When we asked drivers, more than half (57%) said they think that the government needs to do more to help people make the switch.

“With the ban fast approaching it can be confusing to know when is the best time to make the switch – especially when considering high price tags and news of changing UK supply adding an extra level of anxiety. Our guide breaks down the pros and cons and helps to address concerns about charging and running costs so you can feel more confident about going green.”
