Fishguard and Goodwick has become the first hockey club in Pembrokeshire to gain the insport Ribbon Award for their commitment to inclusive provision.

Angela Miles, the disability sport officer for Pembrokeshire, presented the club with the award.

She said: “The club has totally embraced the Hockey Wales 4689 programme, which is a new process for children to learn hockey between the ages of 7 and 13 which focuses on their stage of learning, not their age.

“The 4689 programme allows the club to deliver their sessions inclusively.”

Run by Disability Sport Wales, the insport awards are Federation of Disability Sport Wales (FDSW) programmes.

They intend to support national governing bodies of sport, local authorities and clubs to provide inclusive, quality sessions to disabled people within their communities and at a level of their choice or potential.
