Responding to the Government’s announcement of the final round of the Culture Recovery Fund, Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson, Chair of the LGA’s Culture, Tourism and Sport Board, said: “This funding will play a vital role in supporting many organisations to move towards the lifting of restrictions.

“Councils’ contribution to the country’s public recreation and leisure offering will be crucial to the economic recovery following the pandemic. Areas of concern do remain, including provisions for supply chains and freelancers and protections against potential future loss of income as a result of COVID-19.

“By working together, councils and government can identify where any further targeted investment and support might be needed to aid the sector’s recovery.”
