 About the role

We are looking to recruit a Rural Communities Officer to join our busy Economy and Regeneration Service on a fixed term, full time basis, based at our Aberaeron office.

This is an exciting role within the service providing an opportunity to inspire the development of community led, innovative LEADER activity across Ceredigion. If you have experience in areas such as regeneration, community work or economic development, this could be the opportunity for you.  You will have a central role in motivating Ceredigion’s rural communities, to increase their capacity to build knowledge and skills, innovate and co-operate in order to overcome local challenges. The tasks and workload are ever changing and we are looking for those who can demonstrate innovative thinking and respond positively to challenges with solutions. You now have an opportunity to help shape the future of our county.

On a da a day to day basis you will:

  • Actively facilitate the engagement, involvement and mentoring of a range of organisations in the community, public and private sectors to assist with the development of their activities
  • Facilitate and support the development of LEADER projects with potential applicants, taking projects through the Cynnal y Cardi Local Action Group selection & appraisal panel
  • Provide ongoing mentoring, advice & guidance
  • Develop and implement monitoring systems to ensure compliance of Rural Development Plan LEADER projects with both financial and contractual output requirements
  • Prepare monitoring information on a regular basis

We are looking to recruit an individual with:

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to community work in a creative way
  • Experience of engaging with communities, businesses, social enterprises, third sector, higher education and the public sector, with an ability to build good relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of participative rural community development
  • Successful track record of project delivery
  • Understanding of issues facing rural communities and rural businesses
