Burry Port news (we 16th October 2011)
Cefn Sidan Rotary Club
On Friday 28th October 7pm to 10.30pm at the Ashburnham Hotel an art exhibition will be held by Cefn Sidan Rotary Club.
Sally and Godfrey Rees, both kidney transplant patients, are holding this charity night for Welsh kidney patients. They are showing over sixty oil paintings, together with Sally’s pastel work.
One hundred mounts of their work will be sold at knock down prices.
Entry £1.Attending the event will be James Horton President of the Royal Society of British Artists.
British Legion
The Burry Port and Pembrey British Legion Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 15th November at 8pm at The Royal British Legion Club, Somerset House, Station Road, Burry Port.
All members welcome. Legion subscriptions 2011/2012 are now due and currently being renewed. Branch and Club Secretaries have arranged collection in the Legion Club on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7pm to 9pm.
Burry Port Folk Club
The folk club meets on the first and third Monday of each month and the venue is the Coasting Pilot, Bridge Street. The next meeting is on 7th November.
These are “open mic” acoustic nights and we invite singers, instrumentalists, poetry readers, story tellers etc. and also those who wish to sit back and enjoy.
A PA system is available for use. Each singer is allowed three songs in the first round and two in the second, time permitting.
