Outside half Aled Thomas’ debut professional season with the Scarlets coincided with Stephen Jones’ last season as a player at the West Wales region before he moved on to join Wasps.
With the two now reunited at the Scarlets Thomas, returning from Gloucester Rugby, says it is great for to see Welsh legend Jones back in West Wales.
Speaking about his return to the Scarlets earlier this week Thomas, 30, was in buoyant mood and looking forward to pairing up with Jones who has joined the coaching team on his home turf.
Thomas said; “Steve is a class act and a legend in Wales. It’s great that he’s back in the region.
“We’ve been hearing good things from Wasps, we can seen that in the way they played, it was clear to see that his influence has rubbed off on them. Hopefully he’ll do the same for us here.
“I’m looking forward to working with him and learning from him. As an outside half himself I can hopefully take some of his experience and thoughts on the game.”
Thomas went on to say that he’s also looking forward to playing once again in front of the Scarlets faithful at the Parc. He said; “Gloucester’s support is very similar to here; so passionate, loud and singing throughout.
“It’s the same here, the singing is great. That’s what you want to be playing in front of.”
