Spain is a beautiful surprise for tourists after being stuck indoors during the pandemic. It is safe to travel to Spain this year if all precautions are followed correctly. The Spanish government has a list of approved countries for travel without the need for isolation or quarantine. While Spain has not started a Vaccine Passport yet, it does require proof of vaccinations.

Since Spain was hit pretty badly with the rising coronavirus cases in 2020, the tourism board in Spain is understandably cautious about letting in tourists. They have allowed hotels, resorts, homestays, and more and urge people to be careful in large cities. If you plan to visit Bilbao, you should pick Stay Líbere for their sanitized apartments, excellent service, and beautiful views. You should start your journey in Bilbao, rent a car, and then drive across the gorgeous countryside while moving to Seville, Madrid, and Barcelona. Renting a car and staying in apartments will ensure you are not using public transport or staying in crowded hotels while also enjoying your holiday and staying safe at all times.

Since the Spanish are so welcoming of all nationalities and ethnicities, the vibe of Spain is still the same. Even though the pandemic hit the tourism industry badly, the people of Spain are eager to greet visitors and make your holiday a great one.

With more than 5000 kilometres of fantastic coastline, new places to see, and delicious food to eat, let us clear some doubts so you can travel freely to Spain this year.

What Are The Entry Requirements For Spain?

It is mandatory for all travellers entering Spanish territory to fill a Health Control Form. This form has to be filled, electronically signed, and submitted online to avoid contact. Once the form is submitted, a QR code will be generated, which should be shown to the Spanish authorities during immigration.

The Health Control Form can also be carried paper-based (physically), but only by extraordinary circumstances. Each person travelling would require a separate form, including infants, children, and senior citizens.

The European Centre for Disease Control has also issued guidelines for tourists arriving from high-risk countries. These travellers must produce a negative Covid-19 test result carried out 72-hours (or less) before their arrival time. Apart from this, the Covid-19 negative test must be reproduced anytime during the time spent in Spain.

What Information Needs To Be Present On The Negative Covid-19 Test?

The negative Covid-19 test that travellers need to show on arrival needs to have the holder’s name (not different from the passport), passport number or Identity card number, test type, issuing body and credentials, and credentials the date of the test.

In Spain, the Covid-19 test is officially recognized in four languages – English, Spanish, French, or German. Travellers are also subjected to temperature checks and visual examinations by skilled doctors.

What Is Open In Spain For Tourists?

Spain’s state of emergency was lifted in May 2021. However, there are still specific Covid-19 measures that are in place to ensure health and safety. Social distancing, wearing masks, sanitizing as much as possible, and more are all encouraged.

Cultural spaces, museums, historical monuments, exhibitions, and more have been opened for tourists and visitors. Even though these places are open, they are still following the safety procedures and have reduced their capacity to control the spread of the virus and allow everyone a safe experience.

Many of these places have also switched from physical tickets to online tickets. When going, tourists do not have to punch into the museums or exhibitions with their tickets. They can either show them at the entrance or scan QR codes present at entry corners.

Some places in Spain opened in 2020, like the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace of Madrid, and Alcazar Seville. All these places have prioritized purchasing online tickets. Many sites also encourage visitors to book their tickets 24 hours before visiting to maintain social distancing.

With the reduced capacity, it may be difficult to get tickets or slots. It is best to book in advance, so you do not miss out on your favourite places. Visitors can also attend concerts and theatres that are operating with limited capacity seating.

Bars and restaurants throughout Spain have reopened with few limitations. The number of tables has decreased, and there are steps taken to ensure there is no overcrowding at the bar. They also have limits on the total number of people allowed per table.
