Research by Yoppie, the pioneers of personalised period care, has found that the total time spent on menstrual cycles management throughout the month can take anywhere between an hour to a week or more.

Yoppie asked how much time UK women spent managing their menstrual cycle each month and what took the most time when doing so.

Time spent managing the menstrual cycle

For the majority of women (69%), menstrual cycle management took an hour or less each month, with 17% spending one to two hours.

7% stated they spent about a day throughout the month, while 5% took a couple of days to a week. However, for some women (2%) managing their menstrual cycle each month took a week or longer.

Most time-consuming tasks

When it comes to menstrual management, dealing with PMS symptoms is the most time-consuming activity. Pain relief, hot water bottles and everything in between ranked top as the activity that takes the most time each month.

Changing period care on a daily basis is also one of the most time-consuming menstrual management activities while deciding what to wear also ranked high.

Purchasing period care, deciding how much to take on a night out or weekend away and an emergency restock are also ranked amongst the most time-consuming activities when managing a period.

Founder of Yoppie, Daniella Peri, commented:

“For most of us, menstrual management can be fairly straight forward but the results of this research really demonstrate how no two women share the same experience.

For some of us, the time spent managing our period is far greater than others, some will experience more severe PMS symptoms, while others will require more period care products during our cycle.

There’s no one size fits all approach when it comes to periods but despite this, many of us still opt for a one size fits all approach to our period care. Addressing this issue was the driving motivation when founding Yoppie, providing organic, personalised period care and targeted PMS supplements that can be delivered at a time that suits you, straight through your letterbox.

By planning ahead and ensuring you have enough of the right period care, at the right time, you can spend less time worrying about PMS, pads or tampons and more time on the things that matter.”
