A man has been fined for dumping building waste in the rear lane near Temple Street in Llanelli.

Council environmental enforcement officers issued a fixed penalty notice for £75.

He told officers he had been arranging for a skip to be delivered.

It follows numerous complaints to the council from residents regarding fly-tipping in the rear lanes.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Fly-tipping is a real problem in the back lanes and as soon as they are cleaned up, it isn’t long before they are back in the same mess yet again.

“I would encourage residents to please report any fly-tipping incidents to us as soon as possible so that our enforcement officers can investigate.

“Hopefully by fining people we can try and deter this type of anti-social behaviour which has a real effect on people’s quality of life.”

To report fly-tipping visit i-Local or call Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.
