Jobseekers can fast-track their way to employment thanks to a new 21-day back-to-work programme. Tech start-up RoleCatcher has launched a tool to improve people’s chances of landing their dream role.

Recruitment expert Nicola Cutts, who helped develop the game-changing approach, has careful tailored the programme to meet the demands of today’s job market.

“Over the years I’ve seen so many qualified candidates struggle through a lack of preparation and structure. They apply for anything and everything, thinking it will improve their chances. The RoleCatcher programme is there to stop the scattergun,” she said.

“It makes candidates much more focused and intentional with their search. They figure out where they want to be, and we provide the learning and tools to help them get there.”

After a rocky year, the UK job market is finally stabilising. Many who lost their job at the start of the pandemic have returned to employment. Those reluctant to make a career change amid the uncertainty are now taking the plunge. And, with the Class of 2021 officially out, a new wave of graduates will be entering the job market for the first time.

But it’s not all good news. Recruitment firms are reporting hiring challenges across several sectors due to a shortage of qualified candidates. This means that the pressure is on for jobseekers to impress with their application and sell their skills.

Since its timely launch in January 2021, RoleCatcher has been helping users navigate the seemingly impossible demands of the job search. But the firm realised it needed to take things a step further. Alongside its tech solution, it’s developed a programme to guide applicants through each stage of the recruitment journey.

Anyone can sign up to the free 21-day programme. Participants receive daily emails with set tasks and training resources, all designed to build employment skills and improve their chances of landing their dream job.

Training activities range from CV and cover letter building, to interview preparation and soft skill development. The programme also aims to demystify the job search process, showing candidates alternatives to the traditional job board and ways to optimise their applications for Applicant Tracking Software.

RoleCatcher founder and CEO, James Fogg, said: “We built the RoleCatcher tool to combat inefficiencies in the job search process. But there’s so much to consider when looking for a new job, it’s hard to know where to start and what to prioritise. That’s why we set up the job search programme. Daily tasks and objective-setting provide focus and a sense of direction.”

He added: “This is especially important for graduates. They’ve come out of very structured learning environment and are essentially left to fend for themselves. The RoleCatcher job search programme tries to replicate some of that structure.”
