Once upon a time when the police stopped a motorist for a traffic offence, the first thing they checked was the licence disc on the windscreen to ensure that the car was currently taxed and the registration number on the tax disc matched that on the car. That was then!
Today, electronic wizardry has changed all that… The DVLA has given us naked windscreens and electronics have given the police x-ray eyes. When they stop you, they know precisely when your car tax, insurance and MOT run out and if you haven’t paid your dues, they know that too… The question is, DO YOU?
Without a tax disc on the windscreen there is nothing to draw your attention to the expiry dates of the three most important documents in your motoring life and the absence of any one of these can put you off the road or cost you a small fortune in fines.
“If you haven’t taxed the vehicle it may be clamped and you may receive a fine.”
Quoted from DVLA Vehicle Services
For just £2.50 per disc (2 for £4, 5 for £7.50), you can insure against this eventuality by clothing your naked windscreen with a MEMORY AID which displays the three critical expiry dates on a disc the size of a tax disc placed where the tax disc used to be.
“By law all drivers must be covered by motor insurance and MOT (if it needs one) when they use a motor vehicle on the road or in any other public place.Just like insurance, you must tax the vehicle before you use it.”
(Quoted from DVLA Vehicle Services)
You can buy one or more MEMORY AIDS online, by telephone or by post from The Association for the Independence of Disabled People (AID) and rejoice in the fact that you will never forget one of these important dates again. With every MEMORY AID you buy, £2.00 will be going towards the trial of a new drug to help people with motor neurone disease.
