Nursery Nurse Betsan Ifans is celebrating 21 years of working for the local NHS by taking part in this year’s virtual London Marathon and raising money for Hywel Dda Health Charities.
Betsan, from Clarbeston Road in Pembrokeshire, works at Fishguard Health Centre and wants any money she raises to go to Hywel Dda’s Pembrokeshire Children’s Cancer Services and to the Pembrokeshire Breast Cancer Fund.
She said: “As a staff member I wanted a challenge and give something back as I’ve worked for the health board for 21 years.
“And I’m celebrating my 40th birthday in July, so having the chance to do the virtual marathon is the BEST birthday gift!”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said they were very grateful to fundraisers like Betsan, who had chosen to take part in the London Marathon to support their local NHS.
““The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda,” said Nicola.

The Virgin Money London Marathon takes place on 3rd October and entrants have 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds to complete the 26.2 miles at a location of their choice.
