Is Llanelli, still Wales’ Most Haunted Town? Part 3

We’ve been talking to Spirit rescuer Irene Allen-Block about her paranormal experiences and what she thinks ‘goes bump in the Llanelli night’.

This part focuses on Llanelli, click here to read part 1 and here for part 2.

I read in the newspaper that you called Llanelli an evil place. Why?

I’m not entirely sure why the newspaper wrote that, except that it made a better headline than what I actually said.

If I’d been accurately quoted, you would have read that Spirit Rescue International has had a spate of cases from there, back to back. There are quite natural and innocent reasons for this, including that I am local to the area, my organisation is well advertised, and that word of mouth often leads from one case to the next.

You say you’ve had a lot local cases, can you tell us about them?

Most of the cases in Llanelli I’m afraid are client confidential or are still part of ongoing investigations. However I can tell you about the following case.

In late October 2010, I was contacted by a friend of mine who had concern for a family in Llanelli. In fact it turned out that there were two families who were related.

These families were living in the same beautiful old Edwardian house on the outskirts of the town. This house had been converted into two flats with the staircase in the middle of the house being sealed off from the upstairs.

As my friend explained the problems that they had been having, I became concerned for the families welfare.

What happened whenyou visited the house?

The house was awe inspiring and like others on the same street had obviously in its time been owned by a wealthy family.

Before knocking on the door we decided to take photographs from the outside of the house which proved to be a good move as one in particular showed what seemed to be two unearthly forms looking out of the window at us.

Once inside we were led into a very imposing sitting room to meet the two families involved. The two more senior women were sisters, one of which lived in the upstairs part of this house with her daughters, the other living downstairs with her daughter and son and their dog.

I liked all of these people they seemed very down to earth and welcoming. As we did the initial interview we recorded the session on a digital recorder. This would enable me to remember the interview later when typing up the case notes.

With this part complete we decided to do a walk about concentrating on the rooms that seemed most active. Leaving the sitting room we entered the hallway with its elegant sweeping staircase that led nowhere as it had been boarded off at the top.

I felt a sadness for this lovely house having been adapted this way to make two flats to live in; a staircase like this should lead somewhere not just stop bluntly at the top like this one did. All the way round this house upstairs and downstairs alike, I felt we were not alone.Â

Something full of curiosity was following us!

This became more intense in fact more aggressive in feeling as we went into the downstairs bathroom. I asked everyone to wait out side while I got a feel of this room which was one of the rooms that made all in the house feel uncomfortable.

The atmosphere was thick and there was a chill in the air although the central heating was on it did not seem to touch this room. I used the recorder and called out while I was in there.

Apart from the picture, was there anything else there?

Later that night when I was back home downloading to send the recordings to my co ordinator in the U.S.

I heard not only a deathly sigh on the recording of the interview in the sitting room but a threatening moan on the bathroom one!

We went all through this house doing recordings that day putting more time into the other room that was very active which was the downstairs daughter’s bedroom but nothing else was picked up and the photos taken were only showing the odd orb here and there, mainly dust.

What happened then?

We went back to do an all-night vigil and when the time came I took some of my British team members. With them we were able to rig up more technical cameras and they got us linked up live to our U.S. team.

Beside the many photos and recordings being taken we experienced:

  • cold breezes blowing past us,
  • touched by invisible hands,
  • heard footsteps up and down the stairs that led nowhere
  • groans here and there.

This house that had a history of everyone who lived in it dying was not living up to its reputation or so we thought. We persisted into the early hours of the morning and as the activity picked up this case was taking its toll on each of us.

The main entity had some sort of intelligence and this showed as it gave us the run around.

If we were downstairs things would start happening upstairs as soon as we would go upstairs the activity would then pick up downstairs, it seemed to be playing with us. This resulted in shifting cameras and recorders back and forth and although many EVPs (Electronic voice phenomena) were picked up on the recorders the best audible evidence we heard was with our own ears.

Did you find anything else?

We examined the evidence and found several interesting EVPS on the recordings among which the voice of a young girl saying “Help me”!

Another which sounded like a room full of bees buzzing and from amid this buzzing a bad tempered male voice shouting.

The photos as usual showed the normal light anomalies except for one taken in the bathroom which showed a
man running past us. Only one of my team and I were taking pictures!

This person whoever it was was not in the bathroom and no one in the house even resembled him!

What did you do then?

We decided to do a Remote View on this case. One of my team would be viewing and I would be monitoring. The research team in the U.S. had done all they could and had turned up some helpful information on the history of location.

The co-ordinates were set and the target was to find anything possible pertaining to the activity of the house. The results of the Remote View gave us the following:

  • evidence of a young female,
  • a male who had something to do with an old Steelworks that was once in the town,
  • a tavern and a vicar who had Jones in the name and was connected to a church called ST Elli.
  • The research team came up with proof of a vicar attached to the nearby church called the Reverent William Jones who fitted the time-line.

We knew we had a dominating male entity which seemed to control a number of female entities.  After another on site investigation the first move was to attempt to calm the unsettled energy of the house in preparation for the clearing, so I got busy on accomplishing that.

With the house calm and having remained so for a couple of days it was time to attempt the clearing.

I was accompanied around the house by two of my team, one filmed while one held the digital recorder.

The clearing I had decided to do in this particular case was a Christian one. All started well, I had done the downstairs first and after exiting every room sprayed Holy Water into it.

Upstairs, here the atmosphere felt thick!

Something had fled to this area to be away from me downstairs and with the barriers I had placed downstairs with the water it could not escape.

Going from one room to the other I recited aloud the prayers and incantations needed to attack this thing.

At one point several spirits moved over but one was still holding back, this was the dominate male. I felt sick and I had a pain shooting through my back and felt hot as if I had a raging temperature.  I called on the help of my old friend Archangel Michael and felt something strong and powerful come close to me.

I could do no more except now leave it to divine intervention, spray the Holy Water and close the session. When we examined the recordings for the clearing an EVP was found being said during the final battle with this thing, a male’s voice could be heard saying “you silly woman”!

There does appear to be a lot of paranormal activity in Llanelli. Why do you think this might be happening?

Well, Llanelli has an awful lot of history. It goes way, way back, and to me, the area just seems to trap the energy. It’s got an underground river there, which they built houses and building over top of.

Hundreds of years of activity, both bad and good have left their traces of energy in the very bedrock. Water is well known to be a conductor of energy, and because of this, the energy there is constantly flowing and the paranormal events are heightened.

You can read more about Irene’s experiences when her new book ‘Among the Spirits’ is released.
