A new couch and stool have been purchased to help with echocardiograms being carried out for heart patients at Bronglais Hospital, thanks to local donations to Hywel Dda Health Charities.
The Cardio-Respiratory Department has moved into larger premises and there are now two rooms for echocardiography, which will enable inpatients and outpatients to be seen simultaneously.
Echocardiography couches enable the best possible positioning for the patient, ensuring high quality studies.
They are also specially designed to be ergonomic for the sonographer carrying out the tests – reducing musculosketal strain and injury.
Ceris Jones, Cardiac Physiologist (pictured), said: “The couch has improved patient comfort dramatically, along with staff wellbeing, which helps to maintain and improve our waiting list times.
“We are extremely grateful for the continuous support from the public with fundraising and donations to Cardiology at Bronglais.
“These funds are incredibly valued in order to help us make little changes that help improve the service significantly.”
Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, Nicola Llewellyn, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
