Students Improve Access to Teifi Footpath Near Lampeter

​A footpath which runs along the River Teifi on the outskirts of Lampeter has benefitted from improvement works that have been undertaken.

The work was completed by Countryside Management and Conservation Foundation degree students from Aberystwyth University. The students, supervised by staff from the University, installed an 8.5 meter footbridge and several new gates as part of their practical estate skills module.

The project, which was carried out in partnership with Ceredigion County Council and local landowners, is featured in the Lampeter Walks Booklet which can be obtained by contacting Lampeter Ramblers on 01570 480743.

Graham Harris, the course manager for the students, said: “This is a good example of the practical work that students do for the community, providing them with training in a real world environment. I would like to thank all those concerned in the partnership between the Council and the University.”

Ceredigion County Council Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Community Development, Culture and Leisure, Councillor Gareth Lloyd, said: “This is an excellent example where cooperation between individual organisations can result in an improvement for the whole area and community. The work that has been completed will assist in enabling people who walk these paths to enjoy their surroundings and I congratulate all those involved.”
