Two people have been fined for dropping cigarette ends in Cross Hands Business Park.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the business park at the time of the offences.
Fixed penalty notices for ÂŁ75 were issued to a woman in the Co-op car park and a man in the Leekes car park.
If the fines are not paid, they can be prosecuted in court where the maximum fine for littering is ÂŁ2,500.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: âMany people donât think that cigarette ends are litter but they are. Not only do they look unsightly, but they fall in to cracks and gaps in the pavement and are very difficult and costly to clean up.
âWe have been campaigning to raise awareness of smoking-related litter so there really is no excuse for it; anyone caught by our officers will be fined.
âWe want a cleaner and safer environment for everyone,â he added.
