‘Impressive, very impressive. She’s Nadia Sheikh. Some grunge, some dead hooky and catchy indie going on in there too.” – Chris Hawkins (BBC 6 Music)

“She’s had a fantastic run of singles and has such a great live reputation” – John Kennedy (Radio X)

“Sitting atop this pile of fabulous treasure, like a golden amulet in Smaug’s cache is Nadia Sheikh. She has built her reputation on live gigs, performance and releasing killer singles.” – Fresh On The Net

Returning with one of her most striking, personal works to date – British/Spanish genre-chameleon Nadia Sheikh today shares her first release of 2021 – ‘IDWK (I Don’t Wanna Know)’.
Tipped by key tastemaker names including BBC 6Music, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, Radio X, Fresh On The Net & many more; Sheikh’s ability to combine the powerful, anthemic nature of indie-rock with heartfelt, singer-songwriter style lyricism and the hooks of timeless pop have previously seen her join Stereophonics on an extensive UK/EU tour – performing sold out arena shows in Manchester, Cardiff and across the EU.
New single ‘IDWK’ – produced by Brett Shaw (FOALS, Florence and the Machine) and mastered by John Davis (The Killers, Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey) sees Sheikh reach new levels of candour and vulnerability.
Loaded with an air of breathtaking urgency as her hypnotic vocals crash amongst crescending indie-rock instrumentation, the endearing and powerful cut finds Nadia deep in conversation with herself, acknowledging some of the personal problems many of us tend to brush aside.
“It’s the first release of what I can say is my most personal and vulnerable work as a songwriter.” says Sheikh. “‘IDWK’ is about that difficult conversation you don’t want to have with yourself. Sometimes it’s easier to ignore what we’re going through internally than to face and process it, but once you do, things do get better.”

Having spent the past twelve months working on perfect both her songwriting and the sound she’s cultivated with her band and core collaborators Rowan Davies (bass) and George Gardiner (drums), ‘IDWK’ marks a new beginning for Nadia as she prepares for the release of a new EP in 2022 and a run of UK headline shows set for October, including dates in London, Cardiff, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds.
‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ is available digitally on Thursday 26th August.
