On the evening of 4th October 2021 and into the early hours of 5th October 2021, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service responded to a high call volume relating to flooding varying from external and dwelling flooding, to vehicles stuck in flood water.

Joint Fire Control received over 170 flooding calls last night and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended over 80 flood related incidents in the Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire including over 40 incidents where flood water had entered property.

Crews, working in challenging conditions, were involved in pumping water from affected premises and worked closely with partner agencies including local authorities and Natural Resources Wales to provide a response to these incidents.

MAWWFRS would advise motorists to plan their journeys ahead during adverse weather conditions and to find alternative routes to avoid areas affected by flood water.
