Diamond celebrations for an anniversary of a different kind have been honoured by Neath Port Talbot Council’s Fostering Team at an annual awards ceremony held at the Nidum Theatre, Neath College.
The Council’s Fostering Team show their appreciation every year to those families who give up their time and their home to care for vulnerable children and young people within the borough.
Four fostering households each celebrating 15 years of service had their commitment to teenagers marked. Twelve new fostering households were also recognised for successfully completing their first year of service and are on track to showing continued commitment.
In many cases fostering is considered to be the best way to provide care for children and young people who are looked after by the local authority. Fostering provides a safe, secure and nurturing family environment and allows children and young people to flourish and succeed.
Neath Port Talbot Councillor Leader Ali Thomas, OBE said, “Improving the outcomes of children in need and children looked after is a top priority for the council and the more foster carers we have, the more choices we can offer children and their families.
“I am so proud to have such a dedicated group of foster carers in Neath Port Talbot and it’s important to recognise and thank them for the invaluable work that they do.”
