West Wales Lesbian, Gay, Bi & Transsexual (LGBT) Group, a project run by Llanelli based social enterprise CETMA are organising Llanelli’s first LGBT day on 13th August. The event which will be held in Llanelli Town Centre is open to the public and features organisation joining together to promote diversity and equality.
“Our aim for this very special event is to raise awareness for the need of equality in our society and we hope it will help further the cause of LGBT’s everywhere.
“We hope the Llanelli public will support this event.” said Jonathan Williams, Managing Director of CETMA.
Organisations and Projects committed to the event so far are Carmarthenshire Wildlife Walks, Llanelli Music Scene, Communities First, Age Concern Sir Gar, St Paul’s Family Centre & Groundwork Wales, Time to Change Wales, Mid and West Wales Fire Service. Prospective Plaid Cymru candidate for next year’s Assembly elections Helen Mary Jones is also attending.
Helping to entertain the crowds on the day will be Corrin Casini from the Honeybuns as seen on Britain’s Got Talent, local folk singer Gareth Cornfield, a face painter and a visit from 2 minions for the children.
Also in attendance will be some of the cast and crew from ‘Boy meets Boy’. This was the first Gay programme set and filmed around Llanelli and showcased the Gay Llanelli dating scene.
West Wales LGBT Group coordinator Keith Evans said:
“We’re proud to be making history as this is the first public event in Llanelli, We’re hoping that this will become a permanent fixture on the Llanelli calendar.”
“We are also looking for volunteers to participate in the event and to help with the LGBT Group.”
