A Covid mobile testing unit will soon be operating in Pontardawe on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am-5pm.
The unit will offer a bookable testing option for people with either the ‘classic’ signs of coronavirus or other symptoms they may feel are unusual for them or their child.
These may include flu-like symptoms, including any or all of:
- myalgia (muscle ache or pain);
- excessive tiredness;
- persistent headache;
- runny nose or blocked nose (unless this is a known hay fever symptom for the individual);
- persistent sneezing;
- sore throat and/or hoarseness, shortness of breath or wheezing;
Testing will also be open to anyone generally feeling unwell who has been in contact with a known COVID-19 case, or anyone with new or changed symptoms following a previous negative test.
Whilst Wales remains at ‘Level Zero’ on the Welsh Government’s Coronavirus Control Plan, we all still have to play our part in stopping the spread of the virus. Getting tested will help to support our local businesses to keep safe and trading.
The Mobile Testing Unit will be located at the A474 Pontardawe Bypass Car Park, Pontardawe, SA8 4EQ. It will be at the open on Wednesday and Friday from 09:00 – 17:00. This will start on 5th November and will be open until further notice.
Tests will need to be booked beforehand. Book online at: www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.
You can also ring Swansea Bay Health Board’s local number: 01639 862757 and speak to an operator who will book your test.
Following the test, people will be instructed how to register their results.
