ResidentsĀ in Llanelli are being urged to go along to a Neighbourhood Advice Day for information on services, fun and activities, refreshments and free giveaways.
The event is being held on Wednesday, August 12at the Morfa Social and Athletic Club in New Street between 10am and 3pm.
It has been organised by the councilsā recycling team who will be on hand with lots of information on recycling, as well as replacement food bins and blue bags for those that need them.
There will also be advice on a range of other services including fire safety, energy efficiency, support for older people and more.
As the event is being held during the school summer holidays there will be lots of fun activities for the children including a story time session from Llanelli library staff at 2pm as well as refreshments and giveaways.
Executive Board Member for Technical Services Cllr Hazel Evans said: āEveryone is welcome to come along, have a cuppa, and speak to our recycling officers and other service providers for advice on a wide range of issues in a relaxed environment.ā
It is hoped the event will help to raise awareness on why it is important to recycle our rubbish and encourage people to do more.
Cllr Evans added: āWe are now recycling around 60% of our rubbish here in Carmarthenshire and I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work. But I know with a little more effort and thought, we can recycle even more.ā
The council must achieve a recycling rate of 70% by 2024/25 or could face large financial penalties from Welsh Government.
