Carter Jonas’s Live Local Plan Monitor
Achieves Coverage Across England and Wales
Carter Jonas’s interactive Live Local Plan Monitor – a tool for developers, planners and local communities – has been enhanced and now covers the north of England and Wales. The national property consultancy launched the first phase of its Live Local Plan Monitor in autumn last year.
The web-based resource analyses adopted local plans, emerging plans, consultations and housing land supply and provides an up-to-date snapshot of local strategic planning, providing a level of insight not previously available.
The platform contains a series of interactive web pages displaying local authority boundaries, key towns and cities and road networks in the context of information on the adopted local plan, emerging local plans (and the regulation stage reached), stated housing land supply and opportunities for submitting sites for development suitability assessment.
The tool is supporting developers, landowners, Central Government, those responsible for major infrastructure projects, Government bodies (eg, Environment Agency, Natural England), local authorities and members of the public.
Colin Brown, Head of Planning & Development, Carter Jonas, commented: “We are extremely pleased to be able to support our clients with the further roll-out of our Live Local Plan Monitor now covering the whole of England and Wales. Having launched the first stages of the platform late last year, it has already proved a valuable tool for many landowners, developers and housebuilders.
“Whilst the future direction of the reforms to the planning system remains unclear, it is anticipated that any changes will place greater emphasis on speed of preparation. Accordingly, there is likely to be a period of intense activity with multiple plan reviews across the country. Our teams are constantly monitoring the activities of plan-making authorities, and we will therefore keep the Live Local Plan Monitor fully up to date, making it a vital resource for our network.”
The Live Local Plan Monitor also provides insight into local government reorganisation, an increasingly regionalised approach to strategic planning, and provides important information on Local Plan adoption, which is instrumental in addressing housing need, for example in determining the likely future recipients of the New Homes Bonus which depend upon a Local Plan being in place.
