A group of people from Llanelli have learned vital skills that could make the difference between life and death.

Supported by Carmarthenshire Communities First, the group took part in an emergency first aid course at Llanelli library.

The training gave them the necessary skills to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

The free one-day course covered workplace health and safety regulations and basic life saving first aid, from an unconscious casualty to someone suffering with burns.

Executive board member for Communities First Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “Participants enjoyed the day, whilst learning practical skills that could literally mean the difference between life and death.

“Communities First is a community focused programme that supports the Welsh Government’s anti-poverty agenda.

“The programme supports the most disadvantaged people in the most deprived areas with the aim of helping alleviate persistent poverty.”
