New study reveals the most popular Spiderman films and actors

• Ahead of the release of Spiderman No Way Home on the 15^th of December Ebuyer have dived into the Spidey Verse to reveal the franchise’s most popular films and actors.
• The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was revealed as the most loved Spiderman movie released (37.2%), whereas Tobey Maguire was revealed as the most loved actor (26.3%).

There may be no way home for Spidey, but the latest Spiderman movie will be swinging into a cinema near you on the 15^th of December.

With the last Spiderman: Far From Home generating over $92.5 million on it’s opening weekend¹, fans are clearly in high anticipation as searches for the movie are up 5000% ² The public’s spidey senses even managed to crash movie ticket sites in both the US and UK!³

To celebrate the release, Ebuyer have used social listening to reveal the web’s most popular Spiderman films and actors, as well as those who are generating the most positive and negative sentiment! ⁴

Anticipation for Spider-Man No Way Home is high generating 227, 686 conversations online

Grossing $22.93 billion box-office revenue worldwide in 2020⁴, the Marvel fandom is one of the most hardcore of all and this has led to a whopping 227.686 conversations generated over the past 12 months for the latest Spiderman movie.

However, the original Spider-man continues to shoot a web of conversation across the net with a whopping 93,446 conversations generated.

On the flip side of the spidey verse, The Amazing Spiderman 2 and Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse had the smallest buzz from Marvel fans with around 13,000 conversations generated apiece.

The Amazing – Spider-Man 2 revealed as a fan-favourite

Despite generating the least conversations, those speaking about The-Amazing Spiderman 2 hold a lot of love for the movie, with a 37.2% positive sentiment, surprising considering it’s the most critically panned.

This is closely followed by Spider-man 2 (28.8%) with the public searching for “Why spiderman 2 is the best?” according to Answer The Public.

However, as the public ask the internet “Why Spiderman 3 failed?”, the third of the original series was revealed as the most hated movie, generating a 4.8% negative sentiment.

In the wake of the new Spiderman movie Tom Holland generates the most buzz online

Tom Holland clinches the top spot for online buzz with 37,248 conversations generated. However, original spiderman Toby Maguire still manages to generate over 35,383 conversations with the public asking, “Will Tobey Maguire return as Spiderman?”.

Though Andrew Garfield is still pulling in a respectable number of conversations with over 28,000 online discussions.

The research appears to show that the public can’t decide if it’s Tobey or not Tobey? Maguire manages to generate both the most positive sentiment (18.2%) AND the most negative sentiment (3.3%) of the three.
