Staff at Glangwili Hospital wish to thank those who donated to the Carmarthen Christmas Food Bank Appeal, in memory of beloved staff member, Kate Rees.
Kate, who sadly passed away this year, was an avid supporter of the food bank and was well known across the hospital for her drive and passion in collecting donations.
“We wish to say how thankful we are to everyone who donated in Kate’s memory. Her efforts for the Food Bank every year were recognised across the hospital, and we look forward to continuing the drive in her memory as she is dearly missed.”
Kate worked in the health records team for the past four years but had worked in Glangwili hospital for the previous 10 years.
“Kate was a really lovely character, who made an impact on everyone she met. She could always be seen pushing trolleys full of donations in the lead up to collection time for the food bank.
“She was also an avid baker and would often bring in homemade cakes and Brownies for the office to enjoy. Everyone misses her dearly.”
A special thanks also to Lisa Emmanuel for arranging the Hospital wide collection, and to Janet MacKrell for supporting and driving the message to others.Kate’s family set up a just giving page in her honour that raised over £7,000. They will be sharing the donations equally between Carmarthen Foodbank, Pride Cymru and The Welsh Air Ambulance Charity, all of which Kate supported in her lifetime.
