TOP CUSTOMER-RATED CAMPSITES IN THE UK 2021

20 December 2021: Pitchup.com, the UK’s leading outdoor accommodation booking platform, has recently revealed its top-ranked sites across the UK for 2021. UK holidaymakers spent over 1.8 million nights in outdoor accommodation booked via the platform this year. 

Based on customer reviews rating each site for aspects like location, value for money, quality of accommodation, activities and cleanliness, guests awarded two-thirds of all UK sites listed on the platform in 2020 an overall score of 9/10 and above.

Cripps Farm Caravan Park, Somerset

This family caravan park based in Somerset is only a 15-minute drive from the coast and 45 minutes from the bright lights of Bristol. The tranquil Cripps river runs along the edge of the park and stunning countryside surrounds it, offering peaceful walks and plenty of adventure including bike rides, canoeing, horse riding and golf as well as two large fishing lakes perfect for keen anglers. 

This “haven of beauty” scored 5/5 for accommodation, facilities/activities, cleanliness and wifi. Guests applauded Cripps Farm for being , “a quiet, well maintained site, with fully serviced pitches, immaculate”, and an “excellent site with clean facilities, beautiful views”. Unsurprisingly, 100% of guests said they would recommend this site to a friend and 100% said they would stay there again.

Moelfryn Caravan and Camping Park, Carmarthenshire

With scenic views stretching across the Teifi valley, Moelfryn is 35 minutes by car to Poppit Sands beach and close to the Wales Coast Path, so there are plenty of opportunities to explore and get stuck into activities like surfing, climbing and cycling. The village of Cenarth, home of the Teifi river waterfalls, is just over 10 minutes’ drive. Past guests describe it as a “quiet, peaceful site with clean facilities and friendly owner”, and even state it’s “a different level of peacefulness, so relaxing, just what we all needed”. The well-equipped camping yurts on this Lake District farm proved popular in 2021 scoring an overall rating of 10/10. Located beside the Derwent river, the site looks out over the Borrowdale valley, Scafell Pike and Great Gable. Guests describe it as a “lovely site”, with “river for playing, no WiFi, clean facilities” and note that “the area was really beautiful, literally in the mountains, surrounded by sheep fields and a waterfall.” 100% of guests would recommend a stay here to a friend and 100% would stay again themselves. Location, accommodation and value for money were all ranked 5/5.

This countryside haven offers guests a fully immersive nature experience, from the stream running beside the camping meadow to the spacious rural surroundings. The farm setting means there are even friendly animals to feed as well as bushcraft classes on offer. Campfires are encouraged, or try out the on-site pizza oven. The farm has an overall rating of 10 out of 10 and guests say it is a “relaxing family site…perfect for children and dogs”. 92% of guests described the site as peaceful, with 100% saying they would recommend the site to a friend and stay there again.

Surrounded by spectacular countryside in the north of the county, with the peaks of Bodmin Moor featuring in the distance, the bell tents, cabins and shepherd’s hut here score full marks overall with praise as a “boutique, clean and welcoming glamping site in a gorgeous location”. Accommodation is well-equipped inside and out, with an award-winning pub just a few minutes walk away. The well-maintained facilities and high standards of cleanliness mean that 100% of guests would recommend it to a friend and 100% would stay again.

An imaginative playground and games room mean there’s plenty to keep children occupied, while the owners can also arrange for groceries to be delivered to your door for extra convenience. Guests describe it as an “amazing site, thoroughly recommend the pod with its private en-suite” and state that it was a “fantastic stay in a lovely rural location ideal to explore Cornwall.” Location, accommodation and facilities/activities all scored 5/5.

Another farm site that proved especially popular with staycationers in 2021, this site within Exmoor National Park was a particular hit with active holidaymakers as it’s just metres from Wimbleball Lake with kayaking, canoeing and sailing all on offer. The area is also famous for being Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve, and campfires are permitted so there’s plenty of fun to be had by night as well as day. 

The site scored 5/5 for location, accommodation and cleanliness, with guests recommending that others “Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t be disappointed as it’s perfect”. 100% of guests said they would recommend the site to a friend.
