Carl Chinnock hospitalised after one-punch assault but died four days later.
Christopher George has been jailed for five years for the manslaughter of Carl Chinnock, who died after being punched by his attacker in a Porthcawl car park.
The 27 year-old from Heol-Y-Berlin, Pyle appeared for sentence at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, 7 January after being found guilty of manslaughter by a jury back in December (2021).
The defendant had been out drinking with friends on the night of June 23 (2021) but left the group after hearing shouting coming from Salt Lake Car Park on Porthcawl’s seafront.
His friends described how they saw him punch Carl Chinnock causing him to fall backwards and hit is head on the ground.
Christopher George ran from the car park and caught a taxi home, leaving his friends at the scene to administer first aid to Carl Chinnock until an ambulance arrived. But he died four days later at the Princess of Wales hospital.
After the guilty verdict in December, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Lewis said that from the police investigation, it was clear that Christopher George was fuelled by alcohol and drugs and was out looking for trouble on the night of the assault.
