Kitchen store donates £300 to charity

The launch of a new kitchen showroom has helped raise over £300 for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.

Kitchens by Emma Reed, based in Llansamlet, Swansea, held its official opening of its showroom last year and was well attended by their suppliers and members of the public, who were catered for by T.V Chef and author – Peter Sidwell and The Gower Crepe Company.

Kitchens by Emma Reed donated £240, which was a £1 for every person who attended the event, and the rest of the funds were raised via individual donations in collection boxes.

Reflecting in why they decided to raise funds for the lifesaving charity, Rob Reed of Kitchens by Emma Reed, said: “Firstly, we have family members and relatives who support the Wales Air Ambulance with monthly direct debit contributions. Secondly, Emma was very moved by a story she was told by one of her BNI networking members, who explained that the Wales Air Ambulance had responded to an emergency involving his father several years previously, and the swift response and medical care had subsequently saved this gentleman’s life.

“We also feel that Wales Air Ambulance does not always get the appreciation or support that other emergency services receive.”

Wales Air Ambulance offers advanced critical care and is often described as a ‘Flying ED’. The on-board consultants and critical care practitioners are highly skilled and carry some of the most pioneering medical equipment in the world. They can deliver blood transfusions, administer anaesthesia and undertake emergency operations at the scene of the incident, before flying the patient directly to specialist care.

Now operational 24/7, the Charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters flying.

Jane Griffiths, Wales Air Ambulance Community Fundraising Manager, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended the launch of a new kitchen showroom at Kitchens by Emma Reed or made a donation to the charity. You’ve raised a fantastic £302, which will help our medics be there for the people of Wales when they need us most 24/7. Thank you so much to Kitchens by Emma Reed for their support of our lifesaving charity.”

There are several ways that the public can continue to support the Wales Air Ambulance. These include online donations, signing up to the Charity’s Lifesaving Lottery or by coming up with their own innovative ways to fundraise at home. Further information can be found via www.walesairambulance.com
