A series of free sessions which aim to boost the confidence and skills of women, are now open to those living in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Bridgend.

Called ‘Believe and Achieve’, as that’s what they aim to help women to do, the online sessions are available to those age over 25 who are not in employment, education or training. Women can sign up whether they are looking for work or not, but must have been unemployed for 12 months or more.

The sessions will be run by gender equality charity Chwarae Teg whose coaches will chat to women individually before they begin so that they can find out a bit more about them, including any worries they may have.

Then five inspiring and empowering online sessions will take place, starting in February, though they will run numerous times – into the summer. They aim to help women think about what they’d like for their future, how to see their own strengths, believe in themselves and banish negative thoughts. A work relevant certificate will be awarded after each and there will be two further telephone coaching calls so that women can see how far they’ve come and get any further support or information.

Katherine Lane, Community Engagement Partner, Chwarae Teg, said: “At Chwarae Teg we have 30 years’ experience of working with women, supporting them to believe in themselves and achieve their goals. Anything is possible with the right support and the Believe and Achieve sessions will help women realise their potential, make powerful choices about their futures and start to realise how they can fulfil their potential.

“Everything we do will be supportive, inclusive, and empowering. We understand the barriers women can face, from caring responsibilities and health conditions to welfare dependency and lack of confidence. But we will work together to give women the support, skills and motivation they need to get the life or work they deserve.”
