Pembrokeshire’s Bridge Innovation Centre is charting new territory in design.

The Pembroke Dock-based centre has joined with Milford’s Waterfront Gallery to develop the County’s creative economy.

Local artists are currently displaying their work in the centre’s public spaces while future exhibitions are being planned to showcase both local talent and the creative space available.

The joint working will culminate this Autumn with the opening of a FABLAB – a high tech workshop enabling businesses and artists to make ‘almost anything’ from 3D printing, and laser cutting to electronics and programming.

Pembrokeshire County Council Deputy Leader, Councillor Keith Lewis, said the artistic endeavour was part of a concerted effort by the centre, working in partnership with the Waterfront Gallery charity, to develop the county’s creative economy.

“As well as the new high-tech FABLAB, the centre will also be showcasing traditional artists from the Waterfront Gallery with its public spaces displaying the work of local artists,” he said.

“We hope that as well as showcasing their talents, it will provide  inspiration to all the centre’s users and stimulate the artists to experiment with modern technology.”

Located in the Pembrokeshire Science and Technology Park in Pembroke Dock, the Bridge Innovation Centre is now home to nearly 100 people and 16 businesses.

It is run by Pembrokeshire County Council and aims to be a beacon for all that is positive in the Pembrokeshire business economy.
