Withybush General Hospital has received £1,000 in loving memory of Alan Roach and his wife. That’s thanks to Football Club, Hakin United AFC and Manderwood Timber Engineering LTD.
Football club, Hakin United AFC, donated £1,000, with a contribution from Manderwood Timber Engineering LTD, to Hywel Dda Health Charities in loving memory of Alan Roach, who sadly passed in 2019.
Roach was a longstanding supporter of Hakin UTD as well as a serving member of the committee of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League Council for many decades.
The generous donation will go to the Pembrokeshire Cancer Services Fund in tribute to Alan’s wife, who died of cancer 6 months after him.
Hakin Club stalwart, Daisy Picton said: “Alan Roach was rightly known as ‘Mr. Hakin’; his contribution to the club has been immeasurable, he is sorely missed, but this memorial bench inside the ground will mean he will never be forgotten and will always have a place in all our hearts.”
Alan’s son, Alan Roach Jnr added: “My dad may have been short, but in terms of what he gave to this club (Hakin) he was definitely a giant.”
